David A. Benckendorf
On June 30, 2011, David A. Benckendorf, one of the founding partners of Benckendorf & Benckendorf, P.C., officially retired after over 30 years as an attorney.
A native of the Peoria area, David received his Bachelor’s Degree cum laude from Bradley University in 1977, and his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1981. He was admitted to the Illinois and U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois bars in 1981, and also co-founded Benckendorf & Benckendorf, P.C., in that year.
During his practice, David litigated cases involving Federal Banking regulations, the Credit Agreements Act, the Truth in Lending Act, fraud, probate matters in the Circuit and Appellate Courts, as well as business and commercial litigation, construction litigation, leases, personal injury and other matters in the trial courts of Central Illinois. In addition, David litigated marital cases involving issues of removal of children from Illinois, grandparent rights, child custody and property awards in the Circuit and Appellate Courts, as well as virtually all aspects of divorce and legal separation in the
trial court. In addition to practicing in court, David worked in the formation and representation of corporations and LLCs, drafting employment, non-compete, buy-sell, separation and other documents as well as representing parties in the transfer of a business, either through a stock or membership transfer or through the transfer of assets.
David is enjoying his retirement in New Hampshire with his wife, while teaching law courses part time at a local college.
