Derek Schroen is a Central Illinois native, having been raised in Washington, Illinois and currently living in Tremont, Illinois. He received his B.A. from Purdue University in 1997 and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2000. Derek is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.
Derek has practiced throughout the State of Illinois, at both the circuit court and appellate court levels. He concentrates his practice in all aspects of family law, litigation, personal injury, workers' compensation and corporate law.
Derek co-chairs the Campaign for Legal Services Committee, which raises money for the Bloomington office of Prairie State Legal Services. He is on the Board of Directors of Central Illinois FRIENDS of PWA, Inc. Derek is also the Vice Chair of the Lincoln Memorial Banquet Committee. He is a past Chair of the Peoria County Bar Association's Pro Bono Committee and is a current active member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
Derek understands his clients' needs and knows that being a lawyer is not a 9-5 job. He prides himself on being responsive to his clients. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "The leading rule for the lawyer, as for the man of every other calling, is diligence. Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today." Derek is married to Cecelia, a paralegal. His hobbies include being a film enthusiast, playing his drums and cheering on the Purdue Boilermakers.
